SCIENCE OF BREATHING AND

THE CONTEMPORARY AGE

These new forms of breathing as mentioned above will penetrate our life and with our further development we will have a deeper understanding of life. In a materialistic age even the science of breathing was treated only in a one sided way. Therefore ordinary men cannot have a clear understanding of the laws of breathing. From a materialistic point of view, breathing is a purely mechanical process and can only be explained by the well-known physical and chemical processes. To comprehend the science of breathing and its wholeness and depth, man above all has to study the benefits of the new scientific research and realize that these collective scientific facts cannot explain only the materialistic side, but the spiritual understanding of life. From one side, these facts are expressed in articles on biology and different annual reviews. For those who are not knowledgeable about the spiritual side of nature we recommend they read the new facts and accept the scientific explanations for the existence of prana or the living force in the psychic principle of nature. They know this cannot be explained by physical chemical forces. Because of new research the materialistic viewpoint is fading.

The prana, or vital energy, should not be considered as electric or magnetic only. It is called life-giving electricity and life-giving magnetism. In this way it is giving a new concept of their reality. Those who are searching honestly for truth without prejudice and who are studying the latest scientific facts will come to teach understanding of nature. Life must be understood in form, content and meaning. Form expresses the known physical, chemical occurrences and forces. Content represents the living forces or prana which act as an organizer. Prana organizes the physical chemical forces of the material, but the meaning is presented in the intelligence present in nature which defines the purposeful direction of the forces which organize the forms. The necessity of new methods of breathing today is greater than in any other age. The wave of materialistic thinking which overflowed humanity through the eighteenth century, and was at its culminating peak in the nineteenth century, caused certain changes in the relationship of man and the living forces of nature. Because of materialistic understanding, man distanced himself from the inner life of nature and weakened his ties with living and rational forces, occurrences and laws. Then he entered into relationship with all mechanical forces and laws. Consequently he didn't have the chance to benefit from the life-giving rational forces of the whole cosmos. When man thinks that the physical world is the only reality, the deeper intelligent side of nature becomes hidden from him. This becomes a barrier to his physical and spiritual progress. In this case the flow of living intelligent forces of the whole cosmos is diminished. For example, the human nervous system is not nurtured enough because the forces from the divine world cannot flow in their fullness. This materialistic viewpoint brings distress to the nervous system and that's why today's age is called a nervous age.

To get out of this situation it is necessary to understand nature and the new methods which are based on this viewpoint. The new methods of breathing with other new elements which will enter contemporary culture will allow favorable conditions for creating the new culture which is coming and of which man is now on the threshold.
