CAPABILITIES OF LOVE

Reflection

If you ask the disciple why he goes to school, he will tell you, that he goes to school to study. If you ask the believer why he prays, he will tell you, that he prays in order to get in touch with the elevated world. If you ask the hungry man why he goes to a restaurant he will tell you, that he goes there to eat and satisfy his hunger. What would you answer if they ask you why you go to the mountain, though?

One thing should be known: as a person goes to school, church, restaurant, or to the mountain, this is not a one-time process. These processes are dynamic, not static. The person will go to school, church, a restaurant, and a mountain many times, because the studying, praying, eating, and moving are continuous processes. During his whole life, man will go to school and carry books in his hands. During his whole life man will go to church and carry a prayer book in his hands. During his whole life, man will carry bread in his hands until he gets the meaning of eating. During his whole life, man will climb and descend from mountains until he learns how to walk properly. There are people who carry their book, prayer-book, or bread by themselves, while others leave this to their servants.

You came to the mountain by yourselves, but you were warned that you would have to carry your book, prayer book, and bread by yourselves. As you know this, you have to rely on yourself. Which one is better: to carry the appliances that you need by yourself, or to leave the others to carry them? To carry something by yourself, or to let others carry it are two great processes in Nature. To carry means to be a servant. To let others carry means to be a master. Both these services require wise men. Can you make a master from a stupid person? Can you make a servant from the lean and weak person? Whatever post is given to the man, rationality is required from him.

Two great laws exist: the law of right thinking and the law of right feeling. These two laws guide human life. Both these laws bring good will, space, and breadth within man. When he enters the right thinking area of law, a person has rein, Spirit, and good will for work. When he enters the right feeling area of law, a person feels inspired and begins to create. Externally, people differ in their language, experience, and views, but as regards the natural processes - all of them are alike. As they start to eat, all people eat alike: first they put the food into their mouth, which begins to open and close and twist in all directions. You can teach a person anything, but you cannot teach him how to eat. Each man, each living being knows how to eat. Eating is a natural process, and as such, it fundamentally differs from the unnatural processes. As the artist begins to draw, he paints here and there on the canvass and later on something beautiful emerges. When the poet starts to write, he scrawls on the white sheet. The result from these scrawls is something valuable. The spotting of the artist’s canvass and the scrawling on the poet’s paper are natural processes without which you cannot expect any art or poetry at all.

The natural rational processes differ from the unnatural and irrational processes in this, that they are being read and re-read. Rational people appreciate these processes and understand them, while irrational people do not understand them. For instance, the light, which man receives from the Sun, gives rise to seven processes within him. But only rational men understand these processes. Only they know that light is composed of seven different colours: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, dark-blue, and purple. Each colour is related to certain types of forces within the human organism. Red is related to the forces of the heart, orange – with the forces of the mind, green – with the forces of the will, yellow – with the forces of the soul, purple – with the forces of the Spirit. Light speaks to the man in seven different languages. This means that each colour has a specific language. The one, who understands these languages, is healthy, learned, and strong. The one, who does not understand these languages, cannot use them; as a result he has no achievements at all. Life begins with the red light. As they do not understand the language of this red light, people concentrate only on food. In the course of their whole life, they study the art of eating, but cannot grasp the deep sense of this science. They eat and drink and as they finish their meal, they give thanks. Those, who understand the language of the red light, they give thanks before they start eating. Orange teaches people how to breathe properly. Those, who do not understand the language of orange light, breathe all their life, but they do not have great achievements. Those, who have understood the meaning of the knowledge of breathing, relate it with rightful thoughts and enjoy great achievements.

So, the one, who understands the laws of Light, thanks before he starts eating or gets anything. He likes to thank before he has got something, before any work has been done for him. God loves a man before the latter has done something for Him - while he is still a child. A human loves his fellow man as he does something for him. These are two positions, which include two different problems: the problem of the known and unknown. So, God deals both with phenomena that has happened in the past and with phenomena that is happening now. The knowledge of the known includes the human processes, while the knowledge of the unknown includes the Divine processes. The impossible for the human processes is possible for the Divine processes. It was said in the Scriptures: “The impossible for man is possible for God.” The impossible for hatred is possible for Love; the impossible for ignorance is possible for knowledge; the impossible for weakness is possible for strength. Indeed, it is difficult for a man to do a favour for the one, who has caused him damage. Does the man cause damage out of bad will? Very often people cause each other damage just out of ignorance and lack of understanding. If you have lowered someone in a well shaft to do some work, you have to pull him out with the same rope. If you cut the rope before you pull him out, you cause him damage – you leave him within the well shaft. You might say that you should cut the rope anyway. Yes, you will, but after you pull the man out of the well shaft. If you pull the man out of the well shaft and forget to cut the rope tied to his leg, you cause damage – you trip him up and he cannot walk. As soon as you have taken him out of the well shaft, you should cut the rope with which you had tied him and you should set him free. Consequently, in order not to cause damage to other people, you do [M1] each thing in its proper time. If you do not observe this rule, you will unwillingly cause damage and come across discrepancies.

Christ says: “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.” From what is the human troubled? A man is troubled about the contradictions in life. What should he do, so that he is not troubled? In order not to be troubled, man should leave the discrepancies in the hands of God. They are his business. Only God solves the discrepancies. The mistake of people is that they meddle with God’s things and have left their own business in the hands of God. The child from the first grade should not be occupied with the business of his teacher and give his textbook to his teacher instead. So, if you like to put your things in order and if you want your heart not to be troubled, take your textbooks and begin to learn the letters and leave the philosophical books to the philosophers.

I wish you to be generous and to know when and how to act, think, feel, and talk properly.

A banker, who was a millionaire, was known by his hard heart. Various ladies, madams, and young ladies used to come to him to ask for financial assistance for charity organizations, but no matter how convincing they were, he never gave more than one dollar. One day, a beautiful lady entered his office, whispered something in his ear and immediately disappeared. Instantly, he took out 25 thousand dollars and offered it to this young lady. One of his friends, who witnessed this, asked him: why did you give such a considerable amount to this young lady? – Because she knows how to talk – said the banker. Up till now no one has talked to me like this young lady. I have never heard such words. What were these words? I leave the answer to this question to you.

I wish you to behave like the young lady, who opened the heart of the banker.
