BREATHING AND SINGING

There is a connection between breathing and singing, an interconnection between breathing and thinking. If you don't sing, you don't breath correctly. A person who sings has the possibility of improving his breathing and vice versa. Breathing develops the voice, makes it beautiful, sonorous and pleasant. To develop the voice it is also important to elevate the spirituality of man. Harmony between the sympathetic nervous system and the main lobes of the brain is very important. To achieve this harmony, deep breathing is essential. The breathing exercises have a double influence over the development of the voice and the charging of the psychic energy in man, which also influences the voice. This exercise influences the physiology of the voice. That's why good singers have long years of breathing exercises. They undergo a complete training for this. Those who discover the secret of correct breathing make memorable achievements with their voice and it becomes musical and pleasant, not only while singing, but in speaking.

To develop the voice, it is sometimes good while doing breathing exercises to increase the time of air retention, and sometimes to increase the time of exhaling. This last is absolutely necessary in order to finish certain musical phrases in one breath. At the end of the Paneurhythmy exercises one must do a special breathing exercise accompanied by singing and body movements (see pp. 71 - 72). While lifting the hands horizontally aside from the front of the chest, you inhale and when the hands are slowly moving back you exhale. This makes one musical phrase. There are special breathing exercises to develop the voice.
